Getting started
Permissions & roles
Where Miwi's role goes, who can use what, and roles Miwi refuses.
Miwi's role position#
Discord only lets a bot manage members and roles below its own highest role. After inviting Miwi:
- Open Server Settings → Roles.
- Drag Miwi above every role it should manage (moderators it may moderate, autoroles, the verification role…).
- For antinuke, put Miwi as high as you can — it can't act on anyone above it.
/setup and /antinuke enable show which roles are above Miwi (Miwi can't act on members with them or hand them out). They only stop when Miwi is missing permissions it needs. and /owner scan lists anything else worth fixing. Roles Miwi creates for you — the antinuke quarantine role and roles made with Create role in a setup menu — are placed right under Miwi's role automatically.
Who can use what#

Above Miwi for setup and roles. Changing Miwi's setup (setup menus, AutoMod, logging, welcome, tickets, join to create, roles) or handing out roles also needs your highest role to be above Miwi's, on Discord and in the dashboard. Administrator or Manage Server alone isn't enough. The server owner and extra owners are exempt, so the owner can always manage Miwi and can hand that power to people they trust with /owner extra add.
Whatever you pick — a role, or a member to trust or ignore — must also be below your own highest role, and roles Miwi hands out must be below Miwi's.
Manager roles (set in /settings setup) can use the Manage Server and moderation commands without having those permissions. Only the server owner or an Administrator can choose them. Moderators also can't act on anyone with a role equal to or above their own, and nobody can act on the server owner.
/settings command toggle can switch off most commands for a server, but never /settings, /setup, /security, /antinuke, /automod, /raid, /owner or /help.
Roles Miwi refuses to hand out#
To stop anyone escalating their own permissions, Miwi never gives out roles with moderation permissions (Administrator, Manage Server, Manage Roles, Ban Members…) through autoroles, voice roles, giveaway winner roles or the raid verification role. It also refuses roles above your own.
Extra owners#
The server owner can add up to 10 extra owners with /owner extra add. They are trusted by antinuke, can manage security and receive safety alerts. See Server owner tools.
Spam and blacklists#
Miwi protects itself from command spam and self-bots:
- Using commands or buttons very fast gets a short slow down notice, then silence until you stop. Buttons and menus have higher limits than commands, so games and setup menus stay smooth.
- Keep spamming and you get strikes. Three strikes within an hour blacklists your account automatically, and Miwi's team is alerted.
- A whole server firing commands in a flood is slowed down for a minute.
- The website and dashboard do the same: flooding them, or sending lots of broken requests, blocks your connection for a while (longer each time) and blacklists the account behind it.
If you're blacklisted, Miwi sends you one DM explaining why and how to appeal, then ignores your commands. To appeal, join the support server and open a ticket.
